Crossing upgrades proposed for Fenway

The state Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) and the Emerald Necklace Conservancy are planning sidewalk improvements along the Fenway behind the Museum of Fine Arts. The organizations held a community meeting to discuss designs and gather feedback on Feb. 20.

The two locations proposed for upgrades are the Fenway at Forsyth Way and Fenway at Fenway access road, opposite the Emerald Necklace Conservancy Visitors’ Center. The upgrades would create better visibility for pedestrians and cyclists and better flow for all modes of transportation.

Meeting attendees discussed various iterations of the sidewalk and signalization upgrades, including flashing pedestrian crossing signs, raised crosswalks and cycle traffic rerouting.

All the proposed upgrades have been designed with the guidelines recently agreed upon by DCR and the Emerald Necklace Conservancy.

The meeting presentation is available on DCR’s website at mass.gov/eea/agencies/dcr/public-outreach/public-meetings.
