LMA—Wheelock College last month announced the public phase of a capital campaign that aims to raise $80 million by 2014.

The college at 200 The Riverway already raised $53 million of that goal in a private campaign that began four years ago.

“This campaign will greatly advance the college’s ability to prepare more graduates who are passionately committed to serving future generations of children and families,” said Wheelock President Jackie Jenkins-Scott at an Oct. 12 campaign kick-off, according to a press release.

Founded in 1888, Wheelock is a private college with undergraduate and graduate programs focused on social work, education and child and family studies.

The campaign is intended to fund new facilities, technological upgrades, better scholarships and the college’s first endowed professorships.
