Editorial: Your 10 choices for president

We do not endorse candidates for office. But we do endorse your right to know who all of the candidates are.

Democrat Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney are not your only choices. There will be four presidential candidates on the Massachusetts ballot Nov. 6, and many others whom you are free to write in.

On the ballot is Gary Johnson of the Libertarian Party, who would drastically cut government spending and taxes to what he sees as sustainable essentials. His approach earned him two terms as governor of New Mexico.

Also on the ballot is Jill Stein of the Green Party, who would vastly boost government spending in an attempt to create 100 percent employment and a new “green” energy industry.

Other prominent third-party candidates not on the ballot, but whom you can write in, are Rocky Anderson of the progressive Justice Party and Virgil Goode of the socially and fiscally conservative Constitution Party.

Comic Roseanne Barr is the nominee of the Peace and Freedom Party. Other parties fielding candidates include America’s Party, the Reform Party and the Party for Socialism and Liberation.

We urge you to consider all of the candidates and make a choice you may not have known you have.
