Obama to speak at Markey rally June 12

President Barack Obama will appear at a campaign rally for U.S. Senate candidate Ed Markey on Weds., June 12 at the Reggie Lewis Center.

The rally is a campaign event for the Democratic Senate candidate, but it is open to the general public. Tickets are required and available on a first-come, first-served basis at Markey campaign offices, including at 405 Centre St. in Jamaica Plain.

Markey, a U.S. congressman, is competing with Republican Gabriel Gomez and Richard Heos of the Twelve Visions Party for a U.S. Senate seat in a June 25 special election.

The campaign rally will begin at 11 a.m. at the Reggie Lewis Center, 1350 Tremont St. in Roxbury. Presidential security and a large audience likely will result in increased traffic that day in the Tremont and Columbus Avenue corridor.
