MassArt to host Holiday Art Sale

Holiday shoppers looking to get a jump on the season’s gifts can find unique pieces of artwork at the 29th Annual MassArt Holiday Sale. Held the first week of December, the sale will showcase art made by Massachusetts College of Art and Design students and alumni, and revenue will go partially to the artists, and partially towards supporting MassArt scholarships.

Elizabeth Diciccio, the director of student activities and programs at MassArt, started the sale 29 years ago. She is passionate about the sale, which provides short-term employment for students and alumni and raises money for the school and its students.

“Everything is handmade and of excellent quality,” she said.

The sale provides a variety of arts, such as ceramics, glass, prints, photographs, paintings, illustrations, and handbags.

Patrick Foran, a current MassArt student, has long been involved with the sale, as well as the similar Spring Sale.

“It is always one of the highlights of my year,” he said. “My favorite part is the variety of people who visit the sale, from the die-hard group who comes in for every sale, to the person who just happened to walk by and needed an escape from reality.”

The sale runs from Sun., Dec. 1 to Sat., Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the lobby of the Tower Building at 621 Huntington Ave. For directions or more information, contact Elizabeth DiCiccio at 617-879-7710 or [email protected].
