Last week the Boston Police released its end of the year crime stats that compares January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2021 with the same time period in 2020 and found both Violent Part One Crime and Non-violent Part One Crime were down in Mission Hill/Roxbury’s District B-2 in 2021.
Part One Crimes are the more serious crimes that the Boston Police and other law enforcement agencies track and the overall Violent Part One Crime in Mission Hill/Roxbury was down 20 percent in 2021 when compared to the same period in 2020.
According to the statistics, there were 8 Homicides reported in Mission Hill/Roxbury through December 31, 2021. This was a 38 percent decrease due to there being 13 homicides in 2020.
Domestic Aggravated Assault was down 3.5 percent with 195 incidents reported in 2020 and 188 in 2021.
Non-domestic Aggravated Assault dropped 23 percent with 379 incidents reported during 2020 and 291 incidents reported in 2021.
Robbery or Attempted Robbery was down 41 percent with 148 incidents reported in 2020 and 87 reported in 2021.
However, Rape and Attempted Rape was up 23.5 percent in the neighborhood with 34 being reported last year and 42 being reported in 2021.
Overall there were a total of 616 Violent Part One Crimes between January 1, 2021 and December 31, 2021. This was down 20 percent from the 769 Violent Part One Crimes reported during the same period in 2020.
As for Non-Violent Part One Crimes the numbers were down 17 percent in B-2. These crimes include Commercial Burglary, Residential Burglary, Larceny From Motor Vehicle, Other Larceny and Auto Theft.
According to the report Commercial Burglary was down 43 percent and went from 58 incidents reported during 2020 to 33 incidents reported in 2021.
Residential Burglary was down 23 percent and went from 159 reported incidents during 2020 to 122 incidents reported in 2021.
Larceny From Motor Vehicles, which was a huge problem last year, dropped 24 percent with 201 incidents reported in 2020 and 379 incidents reported in 2021.
Auto Theft was down 5 percent in B-2 with 238 incidents being reported during 2020 and 226 incidents reported in 2021.
Other Larcenies was down 7 percent with 568 incidents being reported during 2020 and 526
incidents reported in 2021.
Overall there were 1,902 Non-Violent Part One Crimes in 2021, down 17 percent from the 2,293 reported during 2020.
