Community Alliance of Mission Hill to Meet May 20
The Community Alliance of Mission Hill (CAMH) will hold its monthly general membership meeting on Wednesday, May 20, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. As the neighborhood’s primary civic association, the CAMH provides a vital platform for residents to discuss housing development proposals, zoning variances, and quality-of-life issues. All neighbors are encouraged to attend and participate in the dialogue.
For those looking for a more informal way to connect with neighbors, the CAMH “Stammtisch” social hour will take place on Tuesday, May 5, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Puddingstone Tavern. These monthly gatherings have no formal agenda and are designed to foster community connections and welcome new arrivals to the Hill. Whether you are a lifelong resident or a newcomer, the Stammtisch is the perfect place to share a conversation and learn more about neighborhood happenings.
Mission Hill Health Movement Provides Vital Support for Seniors
The Mission Hill Health Movement (MHHM) continues to offer essential wellness programs for the neighborhood’s older adults this May. The “Mindful Movement” yoga series, held in partnership with the Parker Hill Library and funded by New England Baptist Hospital, takes place every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. These free classes are specifically designed for adults aged 55 and older and are led by certified instructors. Yoga mats and props are provided, and all experience levels are welcome.
In addition to fitness, the MHHM reminds residents of its Medical Escort Program. This free service provides a qualified community member to drive and escort seniors and veterans to and from medical procedures such as chemotherapy, pain clinic appointments, or colonoscopies. Reservations are required at least seven days in advance. To sign up for yoga or to request a medical escort, residents can call the MHHM office at 617-427-6919 or visit their building at 1534 Tremont St.
Affordable Housing Wins at St. Alphonsus and Terrace Streets
The Mission Hill community is celebrating a significant milestone in housing preservation with the approval of the St. Alphonsus Street project. Mission Hill Neighborhood Housing Services (MHNHS) will renovate seven units at 145-157 St. Alphonsus St., converting them from speculative student housing into permanent affordable apartments for residents earning 30 percent or less of the area median income. The project includes deep energy retrofits and full electrification, aligning with the city’s net-zero emissions standards.
Progress also continues on the “Mission Hill Pathway” at 77 Terrace St. This development will bring 48 affordable condominiums to the neighborhood, providing much-needed homeownership opportunities for first-time buyers. The project also features over 10,000 square feet of community garden space, which will be managed by The Trustees. Recent community meetings have focused on the environmental remediation of the site, ensuring that the soil is safe for urban gardening before construction is completed in 2027.

Graffiti Busters and Street Cleaning Operations Resume
Mission Hill Main Streets reminds residents that the city’s Graffiti Busters program will officially resume its seasonal operations on May 1. This program provides free graffiti removal services for public and private property throughout the neighborhood. Residents are encouraged to report any new graffiti via the city’s 311 app or website to help keep the business district looking its best.
Additionally, the twice-weekly street and sidewalk sweeping in the Mission Hill business district will continue throughout the month. This service is made possible by a state budget earmark and is conducted by Project Place. Main Streets also expects new planters to be installed by the end of May, featuring seasonal spring and summer flowers to enhance the Huntington and Tremont corridor.
Massachusetts Democratic Convention Set for May 30
The 2026 Massachusetts Democratic Convention will take place on Saturday, May 30, at the DCU Center in Worcester.
