Marijuana store operators to make pitch for Tremont Street dispensary

A team of Stoughton-based marijuana entrepreneurs that received approval in 2019 to open a marijuana dispensary in Mattapan, will be coming to Mission Hill on June 24 for a community meeting to pitch a similar proposal for 1441 Tremont St. – near Roxbury Crossing T Station.

Team Green LLC is proposing the store, and has taken the first step of applying to the Boston Cannabis Board and scheduling a public meeting. The applicant consists of owners Vrinda Jody Mendoza Pekala, of Stoughton, only on this application, but in the Mattapan operation, other partners include her husband, and Carlos Castillo – a liquor store owner in Boston.

Team Green LLC was only the second operation to get a signed Host Community Agreement from the City of Boston under the former process prior to the establishment of the Boston Cannabis Board and the new rules for equity. It is believed they would be an equity applicant, which would assure them an expedited hearing at the Cannabis Board.

The proposal would be for a long-vacant storefront at 1441 Tremont St., which abuts Nachlo Mexican & Pakistani Cuisine Restaurant and a barber shop.

The applicants could not be reached by press time, and the Cannabis Board did not immediately respond to a request or additional information on the application.

Originally, a meeting was set for June 7, but now the meeting has been moved to June 24 at 6:30 p.m. online.
