Girma Belay has “stepped down” from his position as executive director of Roxbury Tenants of Harvard (RTH), the organization that operates the Mission Park housing development, according to a brief statement issued by the RTH board.
Belay, who had been on the job since 2005, could not be reached for comment.
“RTH thanks Mr. Belay for his commitment and dedicated service to the RTH community and wishes him well in his new endeavors,” said the board statement.
The board will use a search firm to find a new executive director and will operate RTH on its own in the meantime, the statement said.
Besides overseeing the huge housing development between Huntington Avenue and the Riverway, RTH is a partner with Brigham and Women’s Hospital on two new housing and research towers planned for the former Massachusetts Mental Health Center site. That project may begin next year.
