‘Unsung heroine’ honored

Mission Hill activist Patricia Flaherty has been named a 2012 “Unsung Heroine” by the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women. The award will be presented at a May 16 State House ceremony.

Flaherty is a senior project manager at Mission Hill Neighborhood Housing Services. She is a member of such groups as the Mission Hill Problem Properties Task Force and the Mission Hill Crime Committee.

“She is tireless, compassionate and diligent,” said state Rep. Jeffrey Sanchez, who nominated Flaherty for the annual honor, in a press statement. “I am honored to have her as a constituent and I am happy to call her a friend.”

“Everyone in Mission Hill knows, Patricia is our secret weapon,” said City Councilor Mike Ross, a Mission Hill resident, in a press statement.
