Jessica Casey, a Canadian native who works for the state Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development, was elected the president of the Community Alliance of Mission Hill (CAMH) during a May 16 meeting.
“I really am going to bring the community together,” said Casey.
She stressed the importance of holding monthly meetings and wants strong community participation during those meetings. Casey said she wants the alliance to not only focus on what ails Mission Hill, but also on the good news in the community.
Casey, who has been a member of CAMH for a year, said she has received background information from Rich Johnson, who was serving as the interim president, preparing herself for the job.
Hailing from a working-class family in Oshawa, Ontario, Casey went to Ryerson University in Toronto to obtain a degree in geographic analysis. After college, she worked for several years as a senior policy analyst for the Ontario government before moving to Boston to attend Northeastern University for a master’s degree in urban and regional policy.
