LMA—The Harvard Coop bookstore, formerly located at 333 Longwood Ave., closed at the end of June when landlord Boston Children’s Hospital did not renew the lease.
“We’re obviously very disappointed to not be in the area,” Coop president Jerry Murphy told the Gazette last week. “There’s really nothing that would house our situation.”
Children’s will use the space to relocate various medical clinics, including its blood donor center, while it renovates other buildings, according to Charles Weinstein, the hospital’s vice president for real estate planning and development, in a written statement to the Gazette.
The bookstore supplies Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology students with textbooks and supplies.
The Harvard Square Coop location and its website, thecoop.com, currently carry all goods previously offered at the Longwood Medical Area location.
