A Mission Hill man was convicted as an accessory to a 2011 Jamaica Plain murder in April and will serve a year in prison.
Christian Rivera, 24, was found guilty of being an accessory after the fact to the murder of Kenneth Soto, who was stabbed to death in the parking lot of a JP convenience store on Oct. 16, 2011. Rivera fled the crime scene with the murderer, Hector Soto, and brought him into his home. Rivera was acquitted of a charge of being involved in an altercation that led to the stabbing.
Hector Soto, a Hyde Park resident who is unrelated to the victim, was convicted in the same trial and is serving a life sentence with the possibility of parole after 15 years.
Rivera received a two-and-a-half-year sentence with one year to be served in prison and the rest suspended for five years on the condition he performs community service, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.
