One local elected official will face a challenger in the Sept. 9 state primary election, while another is running unopposed.
Democrat state Sen. Sonia Chang-Díaz (2nd Suffolk District) will face Roy Owens, a regular candidate for elected office, in the primary. The winner will face in November’s general election David James Wyatt, another regular candidate who had a failed mayoral bid in 2013. He is running unopposed in the Republican primary.
Democrat state Rep. Jeffrey Sánchez (15th Suffolk District) will not face an opponent in either the primary election or the general election in November.
