NU earns NCAA men’s basketball tourney spot

The Northeastern University men’s basketball team has earned its first trip to the NCAA tournament in nearly 25 years. All fans are welcome to attend a selection-show watch party on Sunday, March 15, to see what the team’s seed and first-round opponent will be.

With a 72-61 victory over William & Mary in the Colonial Athletic Association championship game on March 9, the NU Huskies earned their first March Madness entry since 1991, and only their eighth ever.

The selection party will be held at NU’s Cabot Center, 360 Huntington Ave. The doors open at 5 p.m. in advance of the 6 p.m. televised event. Student athletes and Coach Bill Coen will appear starting at 5:40 p.m. The event will include giveaways and entertainment, including appearances by the Pep Band, cheerleaders and the dance team. NU is also holding a contest, where winners who guess the seed and opponent can win team sweatshirts. For more info on the event and the contest, see gonu.com.
