NU sports director joins Boston 2024

Peter Roby, director of athletics and recreation at Northeastern University (NU), has joined Boston 2024, according to a press release. Boston 2024 is the private nonprofit attempting to bring the Summer 2024 Olympics to the city.

Roby will serve as the vice chair of the bid committee and as a director of the board.

In the current version of the bid, Northeastern is slated to host journalists in its dorms. Boston 2024 has said it is working a second draft of the bid, and there is no information on how it may include Northeastern or any other local areas.

Roby joining Boston 2024 was announced last month during a shakeup of the organization, with Steve Pagliuca replacing John Fish as chairman. Pagliuca is managing director of Bain Capital and the co-owner of the Boston Celtics.
