LMA—The Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) board during its Oct. 15 meeting approved Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) proposal for an elevated walkway over Longwood Avenue, according to a press release.
The proposed elevated walkway will span the intersection of Blackfan Circle and Longwood Avenue, connecting the fourth floor of BCH’s parking garage to the mezzanine level of BCH’s main building. The 3,250-square-foot walkway will have around 21 feet of clearance over Longwood Avenue.
“This new connection is especially important for many physically challenged patients and families with young children who will be able to cross the congested Longwood Avenue intersection protected from difficult weather conditions without having to complete their crossing in the few seconds allowed by the pedestrian crossing signal phase,” stated a document BCH filed with the BRA.
