The MBTA is a disgrace. It is a public transportation system that catches fire, routinely breaks down, and has a subway line that taking a ride on is probably worse than waterboarding (See: B branch of the Green Line). This is what resident get in a supposedly “world-class” city.
The MBTA now wants to raise fares to ride this transportation system. Residents and local elected officials turned out during a recent community meeting at the Roxbury Community College to urge the MBTA not to hike the rates and to find the money elsewhere. The people in attendance at the meeting were unanimous in their opposition. We will soon find out if the MBTA listened.
