Pizza owner awaits word on fate

Northeastern University (NU) recently bought the building where University House of Pizza (UHOP) and Punter’s Pub operate, as the Gazette reported last month, but the owner of UHOP has still not heard anything from NU about the future of the building.

The property at 444-452 Huntington Ave. was previously owned by Stephen Newman, who is the owner of Punter’s Pub. Newman sold the property to NU for $5.3 million, according to documents at the Suffolk County Registry of Deeds.

According to John Tobin of NU, UHOP still has an agreement with Newman as a tenant.

It is unclear why UHOP would have an agreement with Newman if NU now owns the building.

Tina Savvidis said UHOP is guaranteed two more years at least, but has previously said to the Gazette she is interested in hearing from NU about the future of the building.
