Reflecting Back on my time in Mission Hill

Mission Hill is my home, but it is time for a new generation to take over. This incredible community welcomed me over 20 years ago when I came to the United States with nothing. So when I was able to start Punjab Mini Mart, I made it a priority to provide for the community that was so helpful to me. And I did, by pouring my heart and soul into my business. But, after 19 years, it’s time for me to retire. Coming to the United States without friends or a support system and then finding that Mission Hill’s immigrant community embraced me is something that I will never forget. I worked hard here. I invested long, countless hours at my store and made friendships that will last throughout my life. But I am excited for the next generation to take over and to honor our immigrant community. It’s a privilege to spend more time with my family and less time worrying about my business. I know Mission Hill will provide for the next generation the way it did with me; with open arms and long lasting friendships. Thank you, Mission Hill.
