Trees down as storm largely spares area

Trees and large limbs are down around the area in the wake of Hurricane Sandy yesterday. While the storm devastated New Jersey and New York City, and killed people as far away as Toronto, it was not as strong as predicted in Boston. Coastal areas of the state and some wooded suburbs were harder-hit with power outages and damage to homes.

City and state officials are tallying the tree damage in the local parks and removing debris. Residents can report any downed trees or power lines to the Mayor’s Hotline at 617-635-4500.
