All T service shut down by manhunt

All MBTA public transit is shut down until further notice due to the manhunt for the surviving suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings and other crimes, according to the MBTA and officials at a televised press conference today.

Officials also said Watertown will be completely shut down today, with no traffic allowed and no businesses allowed to operate. In addition, people are urged to stay home and businesses to remain closed in Boston’s Allston and Brighton neighborhoods and the towns of Belmont, Cambridge, Newton and Waltham.

No trains, buses or other T vehicles will operate until further notice. Officials urge people not to wait at bus stops or train stations and instead to go home. For updates, see mbta.com.
