Thanks to Representative Jeffrey Sanchez’s leadership, more summer learning options will be available for those who most need them.
New funding creates a competitive grant to expand evidence-based summer programming across the state. Started as pilot in Boston, including at Sociedad Latina, these funds will enable more than 1,000 additional young people to access rigorous and engaging summer programs.
This effort will build on the 144 programs now serving nearly 13,000 students across Boston and bring this proven approach to students in cities across the Commonwealth.
The research is compelling – summer learning helps young people expand their horizons and perform better during the school year. The money advocated for – and won – by Chairman Sanchez will help more kids benefit.
